PIT Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
This policy explains what personal data PIT handles, why, who it is shared with and how you can exercise your rights. PIT is a product of VeneCrafters LLC, a Delaware limited liability company with offices in Doral, Florida, United States (“VeneCrafters”, “we”).
It covers all of PIT: the web system used by auto shops (pit.co.ve), the customer portal and the PIT mobile apps for iOS and Android. The VeneCrafters website policy is at venecrafters.dev/privacy.
1. Who is responsible for your data
- Shops. Each shop decides which data about its customers it records in PIT and uses it to serve them. For that data, the shop is the controller and VeneCrafters is its processor: we handle it only to provide the service to the shop.
- PIT accounts. If you create an account in the portal or the app, VeneCrafters is the controller of your account data and of what you record yourself.
2. Data we handle
Data a shop records about its customers
- Name, ID number (cédula or RIF), phone and, if available, email.
- Vehicles: make, model, plate and mileage.
- Services performed: date, mileage, description, price and next service date.
- Messages sent to the customer (SMS and notifications) and conversations with the shop.
Data of shop users and distributors
- Name, email, phone, tax or ID number, and company details (legal name, address, phone, logo).
- Activity logs for security, including IP address.
Your PIT account data (portal and app)
- Name, email, phone and password (stored hashed; we never see it).
- Preferred language and notification preferences.
- What you record yourself: vehicles, mileage, your own services and messages to shops.
Device data (app only)
- Platform (iOS or Android) and app version.
- A device session identifier, stored only in hashed form.
- The push notification token assigned by Apple or Google, to send you alerts.
- Date the app was last used.
- Crash reports: what failed, the phone model and system, the app version and an installation identifier — sent only by store versions of the app.
What the app does not collect: location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, advertising identifier or data from other apps. The app has no ads or tracking tools; it only sends crash reports (Crashlytics) so we can fix errors.
On the web: we use only necessary cookies (your session and your cookie choice). To count visits to shop pages we store an anonymous identifier derived from the IP address and browser that changes every day; we do not store the IP address of those visits.
3. How we use it
- To provide the service: keep vehicle histories, work out the next service and remind you when it is due.
- To send reminders and messages by SMS, email and push notifications, according to your preferences.
- To let customers and shops talk to each other.
- To verify your phone when you sign in and keep your session secure.
- To detect errors, measure performance and protect the service against abuse.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising or build profiles for third parties.
4. Who we share it with
Only with providers we need to run PIT, who handle the data on our behalf:
| Provider | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| DigitalOcean (USA) | Servers and database | All service data |
| SMS providers (SmsDigital / Interconectados, Omnicontact) | Sending SMS | Phone number and message text |
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service | Push notifications | Device token and alert text |
| Firebase Crashlytics (Google) | App crash reports | Technical crash data, phone model and OS, app version and an installation identifier (never your name or account) |
| Zoho | Email address and message content | |
| Sentry and New Relic | Errors and performance | Technical data about failures and the server |
A shop sees data about its own customers and, if you link them, the vehicles and services you share with it. Other shops do not see your information. We may also disclose data when the law requires it.
5. Where it is stored
Data is stored on DigitalOcean servers in the United States. If you use PIT from Venezuela or another country, your data is transferred to the United States, with the protections described in this policy.
6. How long we keep it
- While your account, or the shop’s account, is active.
- Signing out of the app deletes that device’s record and its notification token.
- Data the app keeps on your phone to work offline is deleted when you uninstall it.
- When you delete your account in the app, we delete your data right away; if you ask by email, within 30 days. In both cases we keep only what the law requires.
7. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, or object to a specific use.
- Delete your account: do it in the app (Profile → Delete account), or follow the steps at venecrafters.dev/pit/delete-account.
- Data a shop recorded: ask the shop, or write to us and we will pass it on.
- Any other request: write to hello@venecrafters.dev from your account’s email and include the phone number you sign in with. We reply within 30 days.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, session tokens stored as hashes and the phone’s secure storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). No system is 100% secure; if an incident affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.
9. Children
PIT is not directed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, let you know in the app or by email.
